Memory Challenge: Sonic the Hedgehog Edition

Memory Challenge: Sonic the Hedgehog Edition is a memory game based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series by USAopoly. The game includes 58 cards depicting characters from the series in standard modern style 2D artwork and fourteen cards depicting Chaos Emeralds and stating directive information. It was released in 2013 and was available to purchase at Sonic the Hedgehog Official Merchandise for $14.95.

The game can be played alone or with other players. It starts with all 72 cards spread out facedown in a grid pattern. A player completes their turn by flipping over two cards. If the cards have the same image, the player keeps the cards, removing the pair from the playing area. If the cards do not match, however, the player must flip the cards facedown again and their turn ends. If playing alone, that player simply continues flipping pairs of cards. In the case that the matching cards both depict the same color Chaos Emerald, the player must follow the instructions written on the cards to perform "Chaos actions". These provide various advantages such as the ability to steal a matched pair from another player or the opportunity to secretly look at two cards in play. All Chaos Emerald cards can only be used once, except for "Super Transformation", which is active throughout the entire game and protects that player from all other Chaos actions. Once all character cards are matched, the game ends. The player with the most pairs of matches wins the game. In solo play, the player keeps track of how many turns it took to match all the cards, and can try to improve their record.
